Lil Wayne Pays Homage to XXXTentacion in ‘Don’t Cry” Performance – XXLMAG.COM

Lil Wayne wants to guarantee that the late XXXTentacion’s legacy will never be lost on his fans.
Last night (Dec. 12), the Young Money CEO took the stage at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform his somber track “Don’t Cry” off Tha Carter V. After bringing the song to life for the first time at the Skins album listening party in Miami last week, Wayne made sure that the nation knew who croons on the hook of song, produced by Ben Billions and Z3N.
As the crimson red lights flashed, Wayne’s DJ wasted no time in dedicating the performance to all the lost ones in the world. Then, the “Uproar” rapper began his set with a silhouette of the Florida rapper’s face in the background. Afterwards, Wayne continued his flawless performance all the way until he uttered his final bars. “Triple extension on my motherfuckin’ afterlife/Rest in paradise,” he spit before concluding with a red and black sign in the background that reads “R.I.P XXXTentacion.”

The performance comes shortly after Wayne announced that he will appear on the soundtrack to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which will feature an unreleased track with Mr. Carter, Ty Dolla $ign and XXX. The 13-song tracklist also features appearances from Vince Staples, Nicki Minaj, Denzel Curry and much more.
“My song ‘Scared Of The Dark’ with @tydollasign (and a surprise special guest!) is on the Spider-Man: Into The @SpiderVerse Soundtrack. Pre-Save it here & enter to win 2 tickets to see the movie,” Weezy wrote on Twitter.
