With so many roles under her belt, Larson has received a tremendous amount of awards, but how many Oscars has the actress had the honor of taking home?
Larson won her first Oscar in 2016
With a career that dates back to 2001, Brie Larson has had many years of experiences in the acting world.
Starting out mainly as an actress in sitcoms and television film when she was a teenager, Brie Larson got her film breakthrough back in 2014.
Though many of her early films were considered flops when they first premiered, Brie Larson continued working towards becoming one of the most well-known film actress she is considered today.
In 2013, Larson starred in the independent film Short Term 12, in which she played the character Grace Howard, a young supervisor of a group home for troubled teenagers.
With this being the actress’ first well-known performance in her career, Larson received critical acclaim for her role and began receiving multiple nominations.
It wasn’t until 2016 when Brie Larson starred in the film Room when she received her first ever nomination for an Academy Award.
At the 2016 Oscar Awards, Brie Larson found herself winning the award for Best Actress, which gave her her very first Oscar.
‘Captain Marvel’ could give Larson another Oscar
Even though the 2019 Oscars have already aired, many are beginning to believe Brie Larson could most likely win an Academy Award for her role as Captain Marvel.
Released on March 8, Captain Marvel instantly became a fan favorite and fans are praising Brie Larson for being one of the best female superheroes ever.
Because of this, many are certain Larson could take home another Oscar when the Academy Awards air in 2020.
Just in its opening weekend, Captain Marvel grossed $153 million in ticket sales. It has surpassed its competition films for the biggest opening weekend of 2019. It marked the seventh-biggest opening for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second-biggest debut of a new Marvel character on the big screen right after Black Panther.
Brie Larson has really come to relate to Captain Marvel, which is how she came to put her all into the character. “The thing that I thought was my weakness was my greatest strength,” she says. “My introversion, the thing that made me go, ‘Well, I couldn’t be a superhero,’ is the same thing that I think makes this story important to me. Because I’m saying, ‘I’m flawed, I don’t know how to do this, I’m still figuring it out, I’m learning, I want to grow.’ But I’m committed to myself.”
With so many people saying positive things about Captain Marvel and Brie Larson’s portrayal of the character, many of us expect the actress to win big for this role and movie.
